Fir Tree Corner is a Wonderful Period Cottage in the lovely rural village of Cleeve Prior, offering characterful accommodation with a peaceful seclusion rarely found. A hidden gem that takes a step back in time, retaining all the original features along with gardens to delight, a haven of peace and tranquility.
The original cottage dates to the 16th Century, being part thatched and grade II listed. There is also a more recent extension that blends seamlessly with the character of the building. The atmospheric, period accommodation offers a substantial living space with several entrances, a pedestrian approach to the front and side and a gated vehicle access with driveway to the far side.
Approaching the property a pathway leads across the lawns to the front door and to the main entrance hall.
The period features throughout the property are quite extraordinary. The cottage is all beams, nooks and crannies, slate and solid wood floors, original doors and all with great character and centuries of history steeped in the quiet whispers of the walls.
The extension which forms the kitchen and the snug retain the character of the house, a stone bread oven dominates the kitchen and makes a superb feature. Whilst the snug sits looking out over the gardens with a floor to ceiling feature ‘Cathedral’ wall that incorporates double doors, filling this room with light, a lovely spot to enjoy the wonderful view of the church with complete tranquility and a sheltered terrace to enjoy the winter and summer sunshine. There are double doors into the kitchen and double doors to the Snug, all opening onto the beautiful gardens that enjoy a wonderful view of the village church.
There are two potential study/home office rooms or perhaps a piano room or hobby room. There is a wonderful dining room, that is like stepping back in time with inglenook fireplace and a good sized sitting room that similarly enjoys an Inglenook and doors to the gardens at the front. There are two downstairs W.C.'s, one with a basin and plumbing in an adjoining store, having once been a bathroom.
Stairs rise from the heart of the house to upstairs, where a central hallway gives off to three bedrooms, family bathroom and the principle enjoying a good sized en-suite. These rooms remain true to the period and the character needs to be experienced.
EXTERIOR
The vehicle access is from the side of the property, with a gate and gravelled parking and car porch. From here, the gardens wind around to lawns and paths, wrapping around the cottage, and extending out to the side where a summer house sits, ideal for entertaining and a spot of croquet .
Paths thread through the lawns, plants seed around, climbing plants scramble to soften hard surfaces, pergolas frame walkways, herbs, annuals and flowering perennials mingle together as nature permits. All under the ever present gaze of the village church.
The front of the property enjoys a substantial lawn and provides a barrier to the outside world, making this property a haven of privacy, peace and quiet.
There is so much potential here, a wonderful property for lovers of character and period homes and with gardens to keep the most avid gardener busy.
This is a property that needs to be seen to understand the incredible character and potential that is offered.
There could be the possibility to build a second dwelling subject to planning consent.
